The Z by HP Global Desktop Workstation Product Manager is an essential member of the product management team and will own driving product execution excellence, from POR to EOL, for our high-end Z by HP Workstation products: Z8 and Z6.  This is a super exciting space, think NASA and Tesla, and as such, this position requires both technical and business prowess and the ability to manage the complex.  Demonstrated cross functional collaboration skills is a must have. 

Success of the business and individual will depend on close interaction with the COE and sales teams, collaboration with cross-functional teams (such as Product Planning, R&D and WW Marketing), and the ability to understand key vertical market trends and behaviors.

Success metrics and KPIs will be tied to Product Management essentials:  Business management, product life cycle management, 4P Plan execution, product & portfolio storytelling, customer insights, and market intelligence. 

Responsibilities:

  • Business management: Run the business for product swimlanes.  Assess current state of the business and driving actions to deliver to budget via heatmap analysis and partnership with COE to understand market needs

  • Business management: Support business plan growth and manage products/solutions to meet revenue and profitability goals in line with team targets.  Will include investigating new business revenue and margin models that will contribute to this plan.

  • Product life cycle management: Best in class product execution through end of life, including RTP and transition planning, in collaboration with full program team & CoE

  • Product life cycle management: Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to ensure that the products and solutions are delivered per our POR marketing objectives, making trade-offs when necessary:  Schedule, scope, cost.

  • Product life cycle management: Manage the product SCMs:  The SCM files document the AV#s associated with a product and include the official life cycle dates

  • Product life cycle management: Set up and manage the Global Series Program models and SKUs, includes icost and BOM analysis

  • Product life cycle management: Contribute to process enhancements to ensure that the overall process can scale with the business.

  • 4P Plan execution: work in partnership with Sales, CoE, NPI team and WW Marketing on Go-to-Market activities, launch plans and press engagement activities

  • Market intelligence: Consistently perform competitive analysis against top industry players to ensure our lineup is differentiated and competitive.

  • Product & portfolio storytelling: Assist Product Marketing with information and collateral toward maintaining HP website presence and creating customer facing marketing content

  • Product & portfolio storytelling: Assist or lead product training for different audiences; technical training or sales/product related training

  • Customer insights:  Have pulse of customer and feedback insights to Product Planning

Education and Experience Required:

  • BA in technical field (Information Technology or Computer Science)

  • MS or MBA preferred

  • 10 years of experience as a technical product manager

  • Demonstrated experience working with marketing, sales, partners, and R&D

  • Proven experience leading, driving and measuring virtual teams towards a common goal

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of internal HP tools such as icost, Pulsar, myPIM

  • Working knowledge of business plan fundamentals

  • Well-developed understanding of the industry, offering categories and HP offerings/strategy

  • Excellent negotiating skills

  • Strong influencing and consensus-building skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the company, including senior management

  • Strong analytical skills

The estimated range of compensation for this job at the time of this posting is $130,000 - $150,000 if located in the United States.  This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
