Job Specification:

This senior comms/media planner role will be a part of the Global Media Strategy and Competitive Insights team within Media and Data Science organization. It is an individual contributor role acting as a comms planning thought leader within a team of outstanding people tasked with managing global strategic planning with our Worldwide Marketing teams. The objective is to develop a global long term media strategy, drive media asset optimization, and offer media competitive insights. The successful candidate will work closely with the team to ensure that business objectives translate into sound strategic media recommendations as a part of long-term WW Marketing Playbook development for HP’s product lines across Personal Systems, Print, and Workforce Solutions & Services.

Primary Function:

We are looking for someone who can influence through strategic thinking, media chops, a talent for developing innovative yet optimized creative, and a strong mentoring approach. This role is critical to our ultimate goal of building a best-in-class global media strategy team that delivers outstanding business results. The ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity within a highly matrixed, complex, and fluid HP organization will be critical to success.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage, mentor, and influence diverse teams across multiple time zones, countries, and cultures

  • Partner within our immediate team, with WW Marketing, and with Market Marketing teams to:

    • understand business objectives

    • curate relevant insights from historical performance and research

    • identify target audiences and analyze their characteristics, behavior, and media habits

    • think creatively in proposing media strategies and associated cost estimates

    • partner with key global media players to identify global activation opportunities

    • provide the thought leadership to the WW Marketing teams to optimize media assets, including landing pages, for the recommended media channels.

Critical Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with a minimum of 7 years working in comms planning, ideally across geographies.

  • Advanced knowledge in all media channels – both digital and non.

  • Strong communication skills and especially gifted in simplifying complex topics for a non-technical audience. Powerpoint wizardry a must. Fluency in English required.

  • Ability to balance a multitude of projects and effectively influence both executive leadership and individual contributors.

  • Ability to think out of the box, creatively problem solve, move quickly but thoughtfully, and adapt.

  • Self-directed with a passion to continue to learn and grow, embracing the continuous improvement approach (define-measure-analyze-improve).

  • Strong teamwork orientation and ability and flexibility to work with global teams across multiple time zones.

  • Bring some sort of “special sauce” skill to the team that complements the existing team. This doesn’t have to be specifically media related but something that helps the team as a whole reach that goal of best-in-class.

  • Must have prior authorization to work in one of the approved countries without additional HP sponsorship.

Desired but not required knowledge, skills, or experience:

  • Knowledge of HP’s product and services portfolio

  • Familiarity with Intel and/or Microsoft Alliance funding requirements

  • Multi-lingual capability
